Bea Doucet

“I love design and decorating…every aspect of it!”

As a pre-teen Bea would spend her allowance on beautiful objects instead of treats and movies… “Decor and art has always been a part of me.”

Bea received her training over a number of years, starting with an off campus education from the New York School of Interior Design. From there, Bea did intern training with an established interior design firm in Halifax for two years.

In 1979 she opened Interiors by Bea on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. With a marital change in 1986, she sold that business and moved to Halifax permanently. Bea worked for a decorating firm for three years and then joined a registered interior design firm as an associate for 4 years. In 1993, she and her new husband, Jim Davis, opened the doors of Doucet-Watts & Davis Interiors Inc.

“Working in this industry is joyful work.” Bea and her team encounter different personalities, environments, and budgets. That’s what makes this line of work exciting. “They are both the challenges and the joys!”

One of the most important things to Bea and to DWD as a company is giving back to their community. They have partnered with  Sunshine Cancer Room, YWCA, Phoenix House, Kids Help Line, United Way, etc. As Bea reminds us, “These are such joyful opportunities to support those around us”.
